Polymers for Low-Dielectric Materials

Material Design for the Era of High-Speed Communication

With the recent widespread use of 5G, AI, and IoT, the demand for high-speed and high-volume communication is rapidly growing in which context resins used in communication equipment are needed to combine the low-dielectric property that reduces signal loss or delay and the adhesion property for improvement of reliability. GCI has worked on the development of a resin combining the low-dielectric constant/low-dielectric tangent and the high adhesion and achieved a performance balance that was difficult to achieve with conventional materials by conducting the process from the characterization of monomers to the design of polymers in a consistent fashion. In the fields of high frequency circuits and semiconductor packages, this resin will achieve both the reduction of transmission loss and the improvement of connection reliability, making a contribution to the evolution of the next-generation communication technology.

Polymers for Photosensitive Insulating Films

Insulating Film Materials Contributing to the Evolution of Semiconductor Packages

With the sophistication of semiconductor package technologies, photosensitive insulating films essential for manufacturing advanced devices must have micro-machinability with photolithography, insulation property, and long-term reliability, as well as, in recent years, to address the low temperature curing process and be environmental-friendly, including being PFAS-free and being free from regulated chemical substances.
GCI has developed a new polymer combining excellent photosensitivity and environmental-friendliness while expanding our long-held fundamental technology of phenolic resin and maintaining conventional physical properties. We use this technology to contribute to further densification and the high reliability of semiconductor packages. In the future, we will continue to deepen and innovate technologies toward the creation of next-generation materials that makes a contribution to the growth of the entire semiconductor industry.

HAGmi®

Functional Cosmetic Ingredient Developed with the Technologies of Chemical Products and Food Products

GCI has developed a unique functional cosmetic ingredient by integrating the synthesis technology cultivated in our chemical products business over many years and the expertise of food component evaluation accumulated in our food products business. As HAGmi® contains an optimal balance of multiple glyceryl glucosides, it promotes cell activation and also shows an excellent moisture retention, fostering healthy skin and hair.

Biomass-related Technologies

Biomass Technology Aimed at the Achievement of a Low Carbon Society

Reduction of greenhouse gases, including carbon dioxide, is an important issue from the perspective of measures against global warming or a sustainable low carbon society, and GCI has worked on the development of products using biomass-derived raw materials. We have also been committed to the development of products made from inedible biomasses (such as lignin, furfuryl alcohol, and cashew nuts shell liquid), a technology adapted to industrial applications that is derived from saccharification technologies, including high-fructose corn syrup, which we have offered since the establishment of the company. These biomasses are applied to insulating materials, adhesive materials, paints, and other applications.

Cosmetic Plant Extract Utilizing Shirakaga Plums Grown in Takasaki City

Takasaki City, Gunma, where our company was founded, is known as one of the leading plum-growing areas in eastern Japan, especially with Shirakaga plums valued for its high quality. GCI has developed a cosmetic plant extract made from the Shirakaga plums grown in Takasaki City. The extract, which uses unripe plums richer in amino acids and polyphenols than ripened plums, exhibits an excellent moisture-retaining effect or an antioxidant effect, contributing to the maintenance of a healthy skin environment. As a naturally derived and high-performance ingredient, it is expected to be applied to skincare products.

Milex™

Special Phenolic Resin Contributing to the Friction Material and Adhesive Material Applications

Milex™ is a special phenolic resin of which GCI is proud and is a high-performance resin with excellent flexibility, heat resistance, low moisture absorption, and chemical resistance. It is applicable to various applications, such as friction materials and heat-resistant adhesive materials, including brake pads, and has worked in the global market for more than a quarter of a century. It has continued to take on issues, such as noise or vibration, and supported comfortable and safe braking. It is a technology of Japanese origin and has reliable quality spreading from Asia to Western countries. We are committed to the development of products that combine functionality and environmental-friendliness and are aimed at contributing to the future mobility and industry.
