GCI Group Human Rights Policy

Respect for human rights is the basis of all business activities of GCI Group. (*)

GCI Group supports the United Nations Code of Human Rights and the International Labor Organization (ILO) Declaration on “Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work” and will promote the respect to human rights, related to business in accordance with the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.

1.Scope of application

This policy applies to all officers and employees working in the GCI Group (all employees including regular employees, part-timers, contract employees, and dispatched employees).
Under this policy, the board of directors of Gun Ei Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. is responsible for observing commitments and overseeing their efforts.

2.Requests to customers and business partners

We expect all customers related to the GCI Group's products and services to understand this policy, and to our business partners, such as suppliers and clients, to understand and support this policy. We will work to fulfill our responsibilities and expect each other to understand and support this policy.

3.Continuous dialogue

This policy is formulated based on the advice of an external independent organization with specialized knowledge and practical experience in human rights. We will continue to hold dialogues with stakeholders.

4.Policy for responding to human rights issues related to business activities

We recognize that addressing the following human rights issues related to our business activities is an important element of human rights responsibility.

〇Discrimination:
We respect the human rights and diversity of individuals and will not discriminate due to nationality, race, ethnicity, religion, thought, gender, age, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, employment form and other characteristics protected by the laws of each country and region or impair the dignity of individuals.

〇Harassment:
We will not engage in any harassment or behavior that may hurt others, regardless of whether it is mental or physical.

〇Forced labor and child labor:
We will not engage forced labor or child labor. Also does not tolerate any form of modern slavery, including human trafficking.

〇Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining:
We will respect the freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining in accordance with applicable laws and regulations in the countries and regions in which it conducts business.

〇Occupational safety and health:
We will check the laws and regulations related to workplace safety and hygiene and their operational status and create a safe and healthy working environment.

〇Working hours and wages:
We will comply with all laws and regulations regarding working hours and wages applicable in the countries and regions where it conducts business. We will strive to realize wages that enable employees to meet the minimum standard of living.

〇Impact on the supply chain:
We share our human rights policy with suppliers and confirms the observance status throughout the supply chain, including business partners and their subcontractors.

〇Impact on local communities:
We recognize that the Group's business activities may affect human rights in the local community, including health. We aim to fulfill our responsibilities to human rights and contribute to a sustainable society in the communities in which we do business.

〇Rights of indigenous peoples and local residents:
To prevent negative impacts on the safety and health of indigenous peoples and residents, we will take necessary measures in accordance with international norms for avoiding risks and mitigating impacts, including pollution prevention.

5.Internal reporting system and others (Complaint handling scheme)

We have established the "Compliance Committee" to prevent various cases including the prevention of corruption such as working environment, human rights violations, bribery, money laundering, embezzlement, etc., early detection, and prevention of recurrence. We are also working to promote compliance with the cooperation of other organizations.
As part of this action, we have set up an "internal reporting system" that enables everyone in the Group to compliance reports and consultations.

We also have a contact point for consultations and complaints about bullying and harassment (power harassment, sexual harassment, etc.) in the workplace.
For complaints and reports from clients and outside the company, we have set up an "inquiry window" on the corporate website.

6.Efforts to respect human rights (education and training)

We provide education and training to employees on human rights issues as part of compliance training. The training also takes up power harassment and sexual harassment as part of human rights issues.

7.Implementation of monitoring

We will continuously monitor the status of compliance with this policy and make improvements as necessary regarding its efforts to respect human rights.
